Personal Statement

I feel fortunate to have joined the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ. My interest in palliative care arose from seeing the great need to maximize quality of life and provide comprehensive symptom management for patients facing chronic illnesses. As faculty member of ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ, I have been able to provide multi-disciplinary, integrative and expert symptom management to patients and support for their families. Furthermore, I have focused my educational and research interests on improving the delivery of palliative care services to Limited English Proficient patients. My goal is to ensure excellence of care for the community that I serve.

Biographical Info

Dr. Silva is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and an attending physician in the Division Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at New York Presbyterian-ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ. Dr. Silva completed her undergraduate studies in nursing at Georgetown University. She then obtained her medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine. She trained in Internal Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL and worked as a hospitalist at Northwestern before pursuing a fellowship in Palliative Medicine at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Upon completing her fellowship training, she joined the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine in 2014.
